InternshipsOn-site summer internships begin the first of the month or by special arrangement and are available for one-to-three-month durations. School credit may be arranged. Download our Internship Application/Prices/Information packet (PDF, 462 KB). We accept two interns per month so early application is recommended. Contact us for available spaces and more details for this type of learning vacation.
Working Vacation - Cooking, Wrangling, Having Fun With HorsesIn exchange for preparing meals, the ERF cook has the opportunity to learn about horsemanship, participate in research, and do some riding as well. Our cook may also assist with horse handling jobs, such as saddling, if interested. Please see our Employment page or contact us for more details.
Student VolunteeringThe student volunteering program offers volunteer positions and internships throughout the year for local college students and other interested individuals who live off-site. Volunteers should be able to commit to regular schedules for a minimum of three months, approximately eight hours per week for volunteering and 16 hours per week for internships. School credits are available. Please contact us for more information.
Tax DeductionsYour contribution is used to support the research of the Equine Research Foundation and your participation in the project. This includes costs of research equipment, maintenance, participant housing and food, animal care, and publication expenses. What's included/not included in the cost of our learning vacations:
Because you are assisting research for educational purposes, part of your participation in our learning vacations is tax deductible! Please consult your tax advisor.
Cancellation PolicyIf you cancel within the time schedule below, you may transfer to another team if space is available or substitute a replacement person contingent on approval of their application. Cancellation fees may be considered a tax deductible contribution. Time remaining before arrival at the Foundation:
